How it all began

The Mercy Tree began with an idea from a then 8 year old, Mercy Stretton, to help kids in need have a good Christmas.

We have been honoured to support The Salvation Army Belkan House, Dodson House, and Sheway--all major charitable organizations in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver--bring Christmas to families who would otherwise go without.

Ten years on, the Mercy Tree has grown to include a Back-To-School Grocery Drive to help kids in low income areas have healthy snacks before heading back to school each Fall.

During this years pandemic donors generously gave over $500 worth of groceries in just 10 days! In addition, we received our first ever corporate sponsor, Stong's Supermarket-Northwood, who kindly gave an addtional $300 worth of groceries, bringing our final total to over $800. It was incredible!!

And here we are with another opportunity for you to support the needs of our city again this Christmas.
